Art in Public Places Ordinance

Public Art Malibu
On September 8, 2014, Malibu City Council supported the creation of an Art in Public Places Ordinance (MMC, Chapter 17.59).  The Ordinance became effective on October 22, 2014. Specifically, the Ordinance requires certain new or remodel commercial, institutional and multi-family residential development projects to incorporate public art.

Project applicants that fit into the Public Art requirement will be given the choice of placing art or paying the in-lieu-of fee. Those who choose to place art on their project will work with City staff and the Cultural Arts Commission during the review process. Art in Public Places Ordinance
